How can I check room availability?
Please check the room availability (here). If the room does not show up when you select the date, then we are booked out at this moment.

Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Yes, you may modify or cancel your reservation at no cost before the cancellation policy period begins. If you booked through our website, you can view or make changes to your reservation here.
Please note that modifications can be made up until 3:00 pm the day before your scheduled arrival. Depending on the type of change, such as shortening your stay or reducing the number of nights, it may be treated as a cancellation and subject to charges. In some cases, you may need to cancel your current reservation and rebook to make the desired changes. We recommend making any changes before the cancellation policy takes effect.
If you need to adjust your check-in date due to a flight delay, please contact us directly, and we will be happy to assist. -
When do you start taking reservations for the next winter season?
We usually begin accepting reservations for the next winter season around February. Once the schedule is confirmed, we will share the official start date on our website and social media. For the latest updates, please check our Instagram: @hotelgoryukan

How do I get to Hotel Goryukan?

How does Goryukan’s shuttle bus work?

Where can I park my car?
Our outdoor parking lot on the premises is available for free and does not require a reservation. Feel free to park anywhere inside the white lines or neatly alongside another vehicle. Please manage your car and keys on your own during your stay.
However, we may ask you to move your vehicle depending on the parking location, especially during winter due to potential hazards like falling snow. As a result, we will inquire about your vehicle type and the last four digits of your license plate number during check-in. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Is EV charging available at the hotel?
Yes. We offers a free EV charging station exclusively for overnight guests. It is a standard charger and is compatible with most electric vehicles in Japan. If you would like to use it, please let the front desk know at check-in. For a smoother experience, we recommend informing us in advance or noting it in the comments section when making your reservation.
Please note that this complimentary charger is not available for day-use guests.
There is also a paid EV charging station (1 unit) located in the back parking area (slope side). This charger is available to everyone, including non-staying guests. You can use it by simply scanning the QR code on-site. -
Can I park my car before check-in?
You can park your vehicle on the day of your arrival before check-in and after check-out without a reservation. However, if you require overnight parking due to activities such as hiking without staying at the hotel, we kindly ask you to use a public parking lot.

Can I send luggage to the hotel in advance?
Yes, you are welcome to send your luggage or packages to the hotel prior to your arrival. Please ensure that the name on the shipment matches the name on your reservation so we can correctly identify it upon arrival. We will provide it to you during check-in. Please note that if the name on the shipment differs from the name of the guest, we may refuse to accept the delivery.

When can I check in?
Check-in is available from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Please note that the front desk and main entrance will be locked at 9:00 pm, so we kindly ask all guests to arrive within the designated hours.
During the winter season (December to March), arrivals after 9:00 pm (including midnight) may be accepted only if you are traveling directly to the hotel by Nagano Snow Shuttle or Reserved Taxi. If this applies to you, please inform us at least 48 hours in advance.
Important: For guests who do not reside in Japan, passport information is required at check-in. Please make sure to have your passport ready when you arrive. -
Can you store my luggage before check-in?
Yes, we offer complimentary luggage storage. However, please note that our front desk is closed from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and staff are unavailable during this time. Luggage drop-off and pick-up are unavailable during this time. Thank you for your understanding.

What time is breakfast served?
Breakfast is included in the room rate for all hotel guests and is served daily from 7:00 am to 9:00 am (last entry at 8:45 am). You can explore our breakfast menu here.

What time is dinner served?
Winter (December to March): Dinner is served from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with both buffet and à la carte options available each evening. Last order is at 7:30 pm. Please note that hours and menu offerings may vary depending on circumstances and availability. For the latest updates, please check our Instagram: (@thefive_hakuba). We appreciate your understanding.
Spring to Autumn (April to November): During this season, the restaurant is open exclusively to hotel guests and serves buffet-style dinners only. Dinner is served from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with last entry at 7:00 pm and last order at 7:30 pm. Please note that dinner is not included in the standard room rate. Guests wishing to add dinner may register at the front desk. -
How do I book a table at the restaurant?
Winter (December to March): You can book a table at our restaurant using this link or by visiting the front desk or bar, where our staff will be happy to assist you.
Spring to Autumn (April to November): If you are staying with us and wish to dine at our restaurant, please book a table at the front desk. -
Can I take food to my room from the restaurant?
As a general rule, we kindly ask that guests enjoy their meals within the restaurant. However, during the Winter season (December to March), if guests prefer to dine in their room, select items from our a la carte menu can be ordered at the bar and taken up to their room.
Onsen & Sauna

Is the onsen split into men's and women's sides?
Our onsen is separated by sex. On both sides, you will find changing rooms, baskets for clothing, indoor and outdoor onsens, a cold bath, and a sauna.

Can I use the onsen if I have tattoos?
Yes. Tattoos are welcome at our onsen.

Do you offer a day-use onsen? (Can I take a bath without staying at the hotel?)
Yes, we offer a day-use onsen and sauna. Please pay at the front desk open from 3 pm to 8 pm. The cost of the onsen is 2,000 yen per person (1,000 yen under 11 and free for kids under 6) including rental towels. Please check for the days we are closed on our Instagram @hotelgoryukan

Do you have WiFi?
We have free WiFi is available inside the building and in guest rooms.

Can I bring my pet?
Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in our building or in guest rooms.

Can I smoke in my room?
No, inside the building and in guest rooms you are prohibited from smoking. If you smoke inside our building we charge you an extra cleaning fee. We have a smoking space right outside of the main entrance and are happy to direct you toward it.

What amenities are offered?
Hotel Goryukan provides basic amenities to support a comfortable stay. Breakfast is available from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and is included as part of your accommodation. Guests staying at the hotel may also use the indoor and outdoor hot springs (onsen), sauna, and cold bath, which are available as part of their stay.
Most guest rooms are equipped with standard items such as a TV, air conditioner, refrigerator, electric kettle, tea set, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and a hairdryer. Additional items such as toothbrushes, razors, and other personal care products are available at the amenity station located near the elevator on the first floor. -
Do you have double-size beds?
If you would like a double bed, we recommend booking the Standard Double Room, which comes with a full-size double bed.
Other room types are equipped with either semi-double or single-sized beds. However, upon request, we can arrange a Hollywood Twin setup, where two beds are placed side by side to create a shared sleeping area. This arrangement is available for the following room types: Deluxe Wayo Twin Room and Standard Oriental Room.
If you prefer this setup, please let us know in advance. -
Where do I get ice cubes?
We don’t have an ice machine in the hotel, but if you need ice cubes, a small bucket can be provided. Please feel free to ask at the front desk or bar.

Is there a microwave?
We do not have a microwave available for guest use. However, if you need something heated, please ask at the bar, and we will do our best to assist you.

Do you have a shop? Where can I buy snacks?
We do not have a shop inside the hotel. During the winter season, we sell a small selection of snacks such as chips at the bar. For drinks, vending machines are available on the first and basement floors.
Please note that we do not sell snacks at the hotel from spring to autumn (April to November).

Do you have a concierge to help me to reserve restaurants in Hakuba?
We do not have a dedicated concierge, but our front desk team is happy to assist with restaurant reservations during your stay. Please note that we are unable to provide this service before check-in or after check-out. Additionally, we can help arrange taxis departing from the hotel only.
We understand that arranging dinner plans and transportation in advance can be important, especially during the busy winter season, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding. -
Can I get a food delivered to a hotel?
Yes, you can. However, please coordinate to order, receive, and pay for the food by yourself. Guest rooms and floors are for hotel guests only. Please receive the food at the hotel lobby (1F). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in advance.

How do I get around Hakuba?
Hotel Goryukan is conveniently located within walking distance of both the Happo area and the Echoland area. We are also about an 8-minute walk from Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal, where shuttle buses run regularly around the village.
During peak seasons such as winter and summer, free village shuttle buses often stop just 1–2 minutes on foot from the hotel, making it easy to get around without a car.
However, please note that during the winter season, shuttle buses typically begin operating after 8:00 am. If you plan to visit the ski resorts earlier in the morning and are comfortable driving in snowy conditions, renting a car may be a good option to consider.

Do you have bike rentals at the hotel?
No, we do not have bike rentals at the hotel.
Check Out & Payment

When can I check out?
Check-out is by 10:00 am. Please return all room keys and the ski/snowboard locker key to the front desk upon check-out.
The front desk opens at 7:00 am. If you plan to leave earlier, please inform the front desk the night before, and we will provide guidance for your early departure.
Please note that late check-out is not available. Thank you for your understanding. -
Do you take a credit card?
Yes, we gladly accept a variety of payment methods, including major credit cards (such as Visa, MasterCard, and American Express), as well as cash and PayPay. We also support transportation IC cards and various other cashless payment options to accommodate our guests’ preferences.

Can you store my luggage after check-out?
Yes, we offer complimentary luggage storage. However, please note that our front desk is closed from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, during which time staff are unavailable. We kindly ask for your understanding that luggage drop-off and pick-up cannot be accommodated during this period.

Can I send my luggage to the airport or the next destination from the hotel?
If you wish to send your luggage home, to your next destination, or to the airport, please fill out a shipping label and bring your luggage to Front Desk. Labels are available at Front Desk for 2 types of shipping: prepaid and postpaid.

How can I find something I forgot in my room?
If you notice any forgotten items, please contact us as soon as possible via inquiry form or a phone call. Our phone number is (+81) 0261-72-3939 (phone reception: 7:00-10:00 / 14:00-21:00). If any items are found, they can be picked up at the front desk or sent to your home address within Japan, or to your current accommodation in Japan. Please note that shipping will be charged upon delivery.

How do I rent ski and snowboard gear?
There are several rental shops in the area to suit various needs. The closest shop to us is Rhythm Happo, which is only a 4-minute walk (you can book directly with Rhythm here). Other options include Woody’s, Central Snow Sports, and Spicy. You can find more information about rentals here on their respective websites.
Additionally, most rental companies allow guests to return their rental gear at our hotel. We have a dedicated “Rental Return” shelf in our basement for this purpose. However, we recommend confirming this with the company you rent from and letting them know that you plan to leave your gear with us. -
Where can I buy a ski pass?
At the front desk, we sell IC cards required for lift tickets and provide a QR code for accessing discounted prices at Hakuba Happo-One Snow Resort. For more details, please review our latest winter information. *This service is available exclusively for our hotel guests. If you plan to visit multiple ski resorts in Hakuba during your stay, you might find the Hakuba Valley Day Pass a better option. This pass can be purchased online or at any mountain ticket window.

How can I register ski and snowboard lessons?

If your meeting time is before 8:00 am, please note that village shuttle buses may not be operating that early. We recommend checking access options directly with the school when making your reservation. -
How do I get to the mountains?
Hakuba Happo-One Snow Resort is the closest mountain to our hotel, located just a 5-minute walk away. While we do not provide a shuttle service, public transportation is readily available. Shuttle buses run to various ski resorts and around Hakuba Valley, with many bus stops located just 2 to 5 minutes from the hotel.
Please note that most shuttle buses begin operating after 8:00 am. For the latest schedules and route information, please check our news article, which is updated around December.
If you plan to reach the slopes early in the morning, and are comfortable driving in snowy conditions, renting a car may also be a good option.
We can assist with calling a taxi from the hotel, but please be aware that availability is limited during peak morning hours. We recommend arranging your taxi as early as possible.
