How do I get to Hotel Goryukan?

On our access page you can find the most common ways to get to the hotel by car, train, and bus. We also include directions from major places such as airports, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. We hope this helps you get here! -
Where can I park my car?
We have free parking directly outside of our building. You do not need to reserve a spot, however, we ask that you please park neatly inside the white lines.
You must manage your car and key yourself, but please be aware that we may ask you to move your car if there is any danger of falling snow. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in advance. -
Can I send my luggage prior to my arrival?
Please send any luggage or packages to our hotel address under your reservation name! This helps us recognize who it belongs to and ensures we get it into the correct hands once it's delivered.

How does Goryukan’s shuttle bus work?
Hotel Goryukan’s shuttle bus provides transportation for pick up and drop off from Hakuba Basecamp, Happo Bus Terminal, and JR Hakuba Station but only on arrival and departure dates.
Pick-up is available from 12 pm to 9 pm and drop-off runs from 9 am to 10 am. If you would like to make use of our shuttle bus, please book at least one day in advance. Otherwise, spots may fill up or the driver may be unavailable.

When can I check in?
Check-in runs from 3 pm to 9 pm.
We do not offer early check-in. However, we may allow you to check in earlier than 3 pm if your room is ready! Please be aware that our front desk is closed from 10 am to 2 pm, so the earliest time you could check in would be 2 pm.
We allow midnight or later than 9 pm check-in only if you are arriving by Nagano Snow Shuttle or Reserved Taxi coming directly to the hotel door. If this applies to you, please notify us at least one day in advance to let us know.
If you are an international guest without a residential address in Japan, we will ask to make a copy of your passport. Please make sure to have your passport accessible. -
When can I check out?
Check-out is by 10 am. When you check out please bring all your room keys back to the front desk.
The front desk opens at 7 am. If you wish to leave earlier than 7 am, please check with the front desk the night before and we will give you further guidance for early departure.
We do not provide late check-out due to our housekeeping schedule and the need to prepare rooms for incoming guests. Thank you for understanding. -
Can you store my luggage before check-in and/or after check-out?
Yes, we can! However, our front desk is closed from 10 am to 2 pm so if you arrive during this time, we cannot coordinate luggage storage. We can hold your luggage after check out too, but please be aware of our front desk's open hours. We are so sorry for the inconvenience.

Can I bring my pet?
Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in our building or in guest rooms.

Do you have WiFi?
We have free WiFi is available inside the building and in guest rooms.

Do you have a shop? Where can I buy snacks?
We do not have a shop inside our hotel. We sell some chips at the bar during the winter and for drinks, we have vending machines located on the first and basement floors.
The closest convenience store, Lawson, is only a short 5-minute walk from us! -
Do you have a concierge to help me to reserve restaurants in Hakuba?
We do not have a concierge service at the hotel. However, we are happy to help you book any restaurants or get a taxi. If you need either of these things please ask at the front desk.
In order to arrange your reservations, we can only call restaurants or taxis when you are present at the hotel. We cannot assist prior to your arrival. -
How do I get around Hakuba?
Walking is the best way to get around Hakuba. Alternatively, we are an 8 min walk from Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal, where shuttle buses are running regularly around the village. During high high-demand such as winter and summer, we have more shuttle bus options and can ride from closer bus stops such as Nakiyama slope and #3 parking lot a 2-5 min walk away from us!

Rooms

Can I smoke in my room?
No, inside the building and in guest rooms you are prohibited from smoking. If you smoke inside our building we charge you an extra cleaning fee. We have a smoking space right outside of the main entrance and are happy to direct you toward it.

What amenities are offered?
We have a variety of amenities offered here at Hotel Goryukan. Breakfast, the first of which is offered to hotel guests is served from 7 am to 10 am every day. Guests also get free access to our indoor and outdoor hot springs (onsen), sauna, and cold bath.
Other amenities vary by room but most rooms are equipt with what follows: TV, air conditioner, refrigerator, electric kettle, a tea set, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and hairdryer. (extra amenities can be found on the shelf just across the elevator on the first floor) -
Do you have double-size beds?
No, we do not have double-sized beds. If you wish to have a larger bed, we can make a Hollywood twin for you. Please request this when you make a reservation or at the front desk!

Where do I get ice cubes?
We are happy to get you a (small) bucket of ice cubes! Please ask at the front desk or bar for further assistance. We do not have an ice cube machine in the hotel.

Can I take food to my room from the restaurant?
Please don't take any buffet food to your room! However, the Winter if you wish to eat in your room, you can come down to the bar and order select items off our a la carte menu and take them up to your room.

Is there a microwave?
We only have microwaves at the restaurant and bar. If you want us to heat your food, let us know at the counter!
Onsen & Sauna

Is the onsen split into men's and women's sides?
Our onsen is separated by sex. On both sides, you will find changing rooms, baskets for clothing, indoor and outdoor onsens, a cold bath, and a sauna.

Can I use the onsen if I have tattoos?
Yes of course! Tattoos are welcome at our onsen.

Do you offer a day-use onsen? (Can I take a bath without staying at the hotel?)
Yes, we offer a day-use onsen and sauna. Please pay at the front desk open from 3 pm to 8 pm. The cost of the onsen is 2,000 yen per person (1,000 yen under 11 and free for kids under 6) including rental towels. Please check for the days we are closed on our Instagram @hotelgoryukan
Restaurant & Bar

What time is breakfast served?
Breakfast is free to all hotel guests and will be served from 7 am to 9 am. You can view our breakfast menu here.

What time is dinner served?
In the Winter dinner is served from 6 pm to 8 pm and we have a buffet and/or a la carte options offered every night*. During Green season (April to November) our restaurant is open to ONLY hotel guests and only serves buffet food. The restaurant is open from 6 pm to 8 pm but guests must enter before 7 pm.

How do I book a table at the restaurant?
In the Winter you can book a table at our restaurant using this link or come to the front desk or bar and ask us to do it for you. If you are a guest and wish to eat at our restaurant during Green season please book a table at the front desk.

Do you take a credit card?
Yes, we happily accept cash, card, and PayPay!

What is the onsen (hot spring) tax?
The onsen tax is 150 yen per person (over age 12) per day tax for staying in a hotel with an onsen.

Where can I find the closest ATM?
The closest ATM to Hotel Goryukan is at Lawson a convenience store a short 5 min walk away. To find directions to Lawson click here.
Winter

How do I rent ski and snowboard gear?
We have a wide variety of rental shops in the area depending on your needs. The closest one to us is Spicy Rentals which is only a 3 min walk. But other options include Rhythm, Central Snow Sports, and Woody’s. You can read more about rentals here or on any of their websites.
Also, most rental companies allow guests to return rental gear in our hotel (we have a ""rental return"" shelf in our basement), but it is best to double-check with the company you rent and let them know you will be leaving your gear! -
Where can I buy a ski pass?
We sell Hakuba Happo-one Snow Resort 1 day pass for only adults at the front desk. The price varies depending on the dates, please review our latest winter information for the pricing. *This is provided for our hotel guests only.
If you are looking to go to several mountains in Hakuba while your stay, you may find a better deal on Hakuba Valley Day Pass. You can buy the ticket online or at any of the mountain ticket windows. -
How can I register ski & snowboard lessons?
Please sign up for lessons directly with the ski or snowboard schools. We leave the link here for ski and snowboard lessons at Hakuba Happo-on Snow Resort, the closest mountain from us!

How do I get to the mountains?
Hakuba Happo-one Snow Resort is the closest mountain to us, only a 5 min walk away. As a hotel, we do not offer a shuttle service to any of the mountains. If you wish to get to other mountains, please use public transportation. Shuttle buses run to many resorts and around Hakuba village, and many bus stops are only a 2 to 5 min walk away! The latest information for the shuttle bus in Hakuba will be up in our news article around December.
We are also happy to call for a taxi, but in the morning it can be very busy and is often difficult to catch cabs. If you wish to reserve, we recommend you book a night before!
Reservations

Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Yes, you may modify or cancel your reservation freely before the day the cancelation policy applies. Please double-check your cancellation policy.
If you need to update your check-in date due to your flight delay or cancellation, please contact us directly. We would love to coordinate with you. -
When do you start to take reservations for the next winter season?
We will start taking reservations for the next winter season in February! We will post news and our website and social media! Instagram: @hotelgoryukan
