Please note that our onsen follows traditional Japanese bathing style, which requires bathing without swimwear. Onsen facilities are separated for men and women, and guests with tattoos are welcome.
Onsen
Goryukan’s onsen water is sourced from Hakuba Happo Onsen, celebrated as one of Japan’s finest hot springs for healthy skin. Known for its strong alkalinity and natural hydrogen content—a rare and notable feature among hot springs—the water gently removes impurities while deeply hydrating the skin, leaving it soft and refreshed. Bathing in this mineral-rich onsen is believed to support circulation, relieve muscle fatigue, and promote overall relaxation. Indoor and open-air baths are available.
Sauna
Our dry sauna is kept at an average temperature of 100°C. We offer a self löyly setup and an outdoor cooling area.
Cold Bath
Our cold bath uses natural, drinkable groundwater drawn from 65 meters below. This mineral-rich, medium-hard water passes through serpentine rock over 300 years beneath Hakuba’s Happo-One ridgeline. The temperature changes with the seasons, averaging around 15°C in summer and 12°C in winter.
Amenities
The onsen area is equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, hair dryers, hairbrushes, hair ties, razors, cotton swabs, and lockers for valuables.
